BabyUp® by Albani wins two BPIA Awards for Nursery Innovation

We’re incredibly proud to share that BabyUp® by Albani has been recognised with two major honours at the 2026 Baby Product Industry Association (BPIA) Awards, taking home both:

  • Best New Innovation
  • Nursery Furniture & Accessories Award

For us, this isn’t just about awards. It’s a meaningful moment that recognises a product created to genuinely support families through one of the most common early challenges: infant reflux.

A product born from real clinical experience

BabyUp® was created by renowned paediatric gastroenterologist Dr Roberto Albani, who has spent over 40 years caring for babies with gastrointestinal conditions.

Through decades of clinical experience, one thing became clear: small positioning changes can make a big difference to a baby’s comfort after feeding. BabyUp® was designed to reflect that understanding in a simple, supportive way.

The product gently holds babies in an upright, slightly inclined position after feeds — similar to how they naturally rest against a parent’s shoulder. This is a position often recommended for babies experiencing reflux or colic.

The aim is simple: help babies feel more comfortable, while also making those early feeding moments a little easier for parents and caregivers too.

Supporting both babies and parents

Anyone who’s been through the newborn stage knows how intense it can be — especially when reflux or feeding discomfort is part of the picture.

BabyUp® was designed to offer a more natural, non-pharmaceutical option of support during this time. By helping maintain a gentle upright position, it may ease discomfort for babies while also reducing the physical strain of prolonged holding for parents.

It’s a small change in positioning, but one that can make everyday moments feel more manageable.

Designed to mirror how parents naturally hold their baby

At the heart of BabyUp® is Dr Albani’s proprietary Shoulder Replicated Angle™ (SRA™) technology, which has been developed to replicate the way babies are naturally held against a parent’s shoulder.

This isn’t just about comfort — it’s about connection too.

The design encourages face-to-face interaction, helping babies engage with parents, siblings and caregivers during those early developmental stages when bonding and visual contact matter so much.

It also supports early physical development by gently encouraging babies to begin engaging their neck and upper body muscles while still being safely supported.

A meaningful recognition

Speaking about the win, Odetta Albani, CEO of Albani Baby, said:

“My father, Dr Roberto Albani, spent decades caring for babies affected by reflux and saw first-hand the stress it can place on families. BabyUp® was born from that experience and a desire to create something simple that could genuinely help.

To be recognised by the BPIA, an organisation that has championed safety and innovation in the nursery industry for more than 80 years, is incredibly special. Winning two awards is a wonderful endorsement of both the product and the families it was designed to support.”

Looking ahead

For us, these awards are a proud milestone - but more importantly, they reinforce what BabyUp® is here to do: combine medical expertise with thoughtful design to support modern family life in a practical, meaningful way.

We’ll continue to focus on creating solutions that make everyday care a little easier, and a lot more supported.
